What it does

Glycolic acid is the smallest of the alpha hydroxy acids, which is why it works where gentler acids don't — the small molecule gets through the surface layer readily and loosens the dead cells that make skin look dull and feel rough. At 10% it's a working concentration rather than a token one, but well below the professional-strength formulas that need supervision.

The pad format solves the practical problem with acid toners: you get the same amount every time, with nothing to tip or soak. Vitamins C and E, calendula and green tea sit alongside. How to use

Don't use it on the same night as retinol, vitamin C or another acid, and wear broad-spectrum SPF every morning — glycolic acid measurably increases sun sensitivity, and that continues for about a week after you stop.
