What it does

20% is the top of what's sold for home use. At that concentration glycolic acid works quickly on the dead surface cells that make skin look dull and feel rough, and on the look of texture and fine lines over a few weeks — but it also gives less margin for error than a 10% formula. This is a step up, not a starting point.

How to use

On clean, dry skin in the evening, sweep one pad over the face avoiding the eye area, and let it dry completely before applying anything else. Never on the same night as retinol, vitamin C or another acid — alternate nights. On glycolic nights keep the routine simple: cleanse, exfoliate, moisturise. Wear broad-spectrum SPF every morning; glycolic acid increases sun sensitivity and that continues for about a week after you stop.

For skin already comfortable with acids, working on texture, dullness and the look of fine lines.
