What it does

Korean toners aren't the astringent kind British shoppers usually picture. There's no alcohol sting and no job of "removing residue" — the point is to put the first thin layer of moisture onto damp skin so everything after it goes on more easily. This one has a milky rather than watery texture, which makes it more comfortable on skin that feels tight after washing.

Rice bran is the traditional ingredient here, used in Korean and Japanese skincare long before either had a beauty industry, and it works on the look of dullness and uneven tone. How to use

After cleansing, pour a little into your palms and press it into the face and neck. A cotton pad works too, but hands waste less of it. Apply while your skin is still damp — that's the entire point of a toner in this style, and letting your face dry first throws away most of the benefit. Follow with serum and moisturiser, morning and night.
