The ReFa FINE BUBBLE S is a Japanese beauty shower head that adds two sizes of tiny bubbles (ultrafine bubbles and microbubbles) to your shower water, for a gentle cleanse that leaves skin and hair feeling soft and fresh.

Made by ReFa (MTG Co., Ltd., Japan) and first released in Japan in 2020, the FINE BUBBLE S uses ReFa's fine bubble technology to fill ordinary tap water with bubbles far smaller than you can see. A switch on the head changes between four spray patterns, from a soft mist for the face to a jet for the scalp. It weighs about 250 g and screws onto a standard shower hose.

• Ultrafine bubbles and microbubbles. ReFa states the ultrafine bubbles average about 0.15 µm across and the microbubbles about 34 µm (measured by an FBIA-designated testing agency), so the water rinses skin and hair gently.

• Uses less water in Mist mode. ReFa quotes up to 67% less water in Mist mode.

How to use it

Unscrew your existing shower head from the hose, fit the FINE BUBBLE S with the rubber packing in place, and tighten by hand. Turn the water on, set a comfortable temperature, and use the switch to pick a spray pattern: Mist for the face, Jet for the scalp, Rain or Powerful Rain for the body. For a bubble bath, choose Rain and hold the head under the bathwater.

Will it fit my shower?

It has a G1/2 thread, the standard 1/2" connection used on most UK shower hoses. Adapters for other fittings are included.

Which spray should I use on my face?

Mist, the softest pattern. Jet is the strongest and is meant for the scalp.

How is it different from the FINE BUBBLE DIA?

The S is a compact, light head (about 250 g) with four spray patterns. The DIA range has a larger round head (120 or 150 mm) and five spray patterns on the 150.
