What it does
Berberine is a plant alkaloid extracted here from Berberis species and supplied as berberine HCl, the standard, well-studied form. NOW pairs it with medium-chain triglyceride oil, including 238mg of capric acid, because berberine is poorly soluble on its own and an oil base helps it disperse in the gut. The softgel format also avoids the bitter taste that loose berberine powder has. NOW Foods is family-owned, makes its products in its own Illinois facility, and tests every batch in-house; the softgel shell is bovine gelatin, so this is not a vegetarian product. How to use
Take one softgel three times daily with food. Start with one a day for the first week if you have a sensitive stomach, as berberine can cause mild digestive discomfort.
