What it does
Benzoyl peroxide is one of the longest-established ingredients for blemish-prone skin, and 5% is where most people should begin: strong enough to work, mild enough to tolerate. Jan Marini micronises it, grinding the particles finer so it spreads evenly and causes less of the roughness stronger BPO products are known for. The emollient base means it treats without stripping. Used consistently it helps clear existing blemishes, keeps pores clear of the build-up behind blackheads, and reduces how often new spots appear.
How to use
On cleansed skin, apply a thin layer to the affected area once daily to begin, building to twice daily only as tolerated. Cut back to every other day if you get dryness or peeling. Two things to know: benzoyl peroxide bleaches fabric, so keep it off towels, bedding and clothing, and it increases sun sensitivity, so wear a broad-spectrum SPF every morning.
